An absolute web/graphic design masterpiece. The typography is lush, the use of images and textures are balanced and well considered, and the layout and composition just simply screams 'Hey - I'm functional - read me!'

Personally, this style of design really floats my boat, but even if this site isn't your cup of tea, there's no disputing its sound execution of design and ideas that just 'work'.

Check out the artwork and photos as well - proper creative stuff.

Nice site. Someone please explain the significance of the black block over the eyes? I see it everywhere and just don't get it...

Thanks for the post and the compliments, it's still very much a work in progress. As far as the black bar goes, initially that top photo was going to be a placeholder for something else but it grew on me. The reason for me blacking out the eyes is the photo itself... quite frankly, Eisenhower's eyes scares the hell out of me: http://www.americaslibrary.gov/aa/eisenhower/aa_eisenhower_subj_e.html

It may be a design masterpiece, but my first impression is 'great, another css site spoiled by a lot of boo-boos in Explorer 6'. Seems a shame really.

Now this I like.

I wonder how long before this style becomes a little ubiquitous though.

Nice work Dave my man, nice work.
