Do I have to wonder why random text-only boxes light up when hovering, yet the navigation items don't?
On September 30, 2005 1:05 AM Anatoly Papirovsky said:The design doesn't make any sense whatsoever... as the person above said, looks like somebody tried to fit all the "cool" stuff into one site without thinking about it too much.
On September 30, 2005 1:24 AM Matt said:Looks sweet. Not too easy to use but I'm sure they know that, and their audience. Good job.
On September 30, 2005 3:45 AM Trevor said:scattered, messy, unbalanced. I like the logo, but the design just looks like a typical messy office desk, and we all know its tough trying to find what you're looking for on a messy desk!

J'aime the layout. It's very smooth, in a way and has a real cleanliness about it, even though (as stated) it looks like an office desk. If only all office desks looked like this one :D
On September 30, 2005 3:54 AM Dave said:one bother though... slow scrolling.
That really puts me off a site.
Dunno why.
On September 30, 2005 4:02 AM Pesche said:Hi guys!
Thanks for your comments, i really appreciate the feedback. Navigation should actually be hovering as every other link on the homepage is, this is corrected now.
I know the fact that the site looks unorganized and messy, but this was the intention. We did not want to create a usual, clean portfolio page, but one with the emphasis on graphics, one that does not look that ordinary, one that uses proper XHTML and CSS for its markup though.
On September 30, 2005 4:58 AM Chris said:Well I think it's great. I'm not sure what everyone else so far has against it - it's a good graphical showcase which is beautiful, AND exactly what you were trying to do. It's very different from a lot of things out there at the moment and that seems to make people attack it rather than embrace?
Fair enough - the site is very "image heavy" which seems a bit like a throw back to the past - but there's really no other way you could acheive this look...
Well done.
On September 30, 2005 5:24 AM stamatis said:of course its supposed to look messy... its a noticeboard ! although i dont know what an apple and a mouse are doing there... I get the feeling that i look into a pile of paper while i navigate through the different pages of the menu ! Well done!

On September 30, 2005 6:33 AM Rich said:I absolutley love it - well done. It's clean, easy to use and looks great. If I have any gripe then it's the fact that it forces h scroll at 800x600
On September 30, 2005 7:07 AM Colin said:Apart from the pencils and the apple, I think this design is great. Yeah, it's messy but I think that goes in its favour. It's unique. I love their thumbnail holders in the portfolio (which is also full of great work). My only gripe would be that the news section on the homepage looks a bit like sponsored links from Google.

Lovely job.. now if only I could learn to draw like that..

i like your website very much.
the combination (color, image, typo) are perfect.some others will love it and some others won't.
but, it your's :)

On September 30, 2005 3:34 PM Pilok said:That is funny how this website generate so different opinions.
Personnaly, I found this website is cool and they did not create a maybe too "generic" website. Illustrations are smooth and clean.
Interesting website in any case.
On September 30, 2005 6:35 PM kevadamson said:I love the way folk keep saying that it's messy - I've seen single-column-header-footer sites that are messier than this. It's designed to look 'messy', yet the graphics are clean, the composition and colour spot on, and therefore not messy at all - really easy to use - a great use of 'irony' me thinks. Hats off to anyone who set's out to challenge the 'visual rules' whilst still using good sound markup - which this does. The logo's really nice as well - major thumbs up indeedy!
On September 30, 2005 7:26 PM C said:The graphics are superb. As I hate to say anything negative about someone else's art, it first captured me as a template monster template adapted to CSS, which I'm fairly certain was not. But that was my initial reaction.
On October 1, 2005 3:43 AM Nathan said:I like it, though I'm not a huge fan of the hover state on the side bar elements, I just don't see the reason for highlighting something that's not clickable especially considering there are link within, it actually made it harder to realize there were links!
Other than that I think it is very well executed!
Cheers!

The fact people comment on the messy looks proves that the design has been executed as intended. My only gripe is that this site suffers from the IE peekaboo bug on a few of the pages.
On October 5, 2005 11:10 AM Seog said:I like the design. Still i would put a little more emphasize on the main navigation on the left. Such a nice page and no favicon ? Can´t be ...
On October 5, 2005 12:47 PM Aaron said:Serious attention to detail! My goodness, the diagonals are laser sharp. Graphic quality and color scheme is very appealing to the eye. I passed in a paper that looked like that once.
On October 6, 2005 4:45 PM Trevor said:Yes, I understand it's made to look "unorganized" but as a web site designed as a business, doesn't suit it properly. Seems like it should be more of a personal portfolio web site with all the paper and tape stuff, not a web design business. Don't companies search for a design firm that doesn't look like its a messy cluttered desk? I like it, just not for its use.
On October 6, 2005 11:34 PM Lee said:Nice website ! Dont see why web businesses have to project a standard generic business look ?
These guys are creative, and will most likely attract clients who are after a web agency with a bit of creativity....
On October 10, 2005 7:35 AM Martin Saulis said:Cut the tape - it looks nice and stuff.
But what about the usability? The scrolling is SO LAGGY! And once again that's the fault of the fixed background.
Everything else isn't counting while the users just cannot view the site because it lags like hell!
On October 10, 2005 9:36 AM Pesche said:Hi Martin
You're right, it actually can be a pain in the ass when the scrolling on a site is slow, and as the usability goes together with an overall impression of a site, it's not a minor defect. I was not aware of the fact that this has something to do with the fixed background. I changed it now to not-fixed, as the fixed background is not really an important part of the site's layout. Could you keep me posted if the behaviour has bettered?
Thanks,
Peter.
On December 1, 2005 6:39 AM Martin Saulis said:Hi Pesche,
Yep, that is definitely better now.
Best regards,
Martin
