Are you kidding me? I can't even read this. Maybe it's a matter of personal taste, but even as an illustrator this looks like a mess to me.

Yow am I the first to comment I must be the only one online in this world at the moment then, Talking of Design indeed I must say this site is immensely inspiring, I grew up readying books with this sort of art I think that helped mold me into a designer and lead me the the direction of design I have yet to actually do any art like this yet though, the chracters as so man I can't even...

Anyway way big up on this site man I love what you did with the place :D

@Joe: Heh! I know mate. There's wheel barrows lying around, nails and screws and mess all over the show - it's a health hazard ... but it's home!

You have very nice illustrations. While I don't think our tastes are in line with web design, your code is very nice and clean :)

I was a bit curious as to why this site was chosen until I got to the bottom of the page.
That's one sick footer
I'm not sure I like the rest of the site as much, but this is clearly a love/hate design

I think James said it best with "...this is a love/hate design!" As much as I enjoy the unique approach and aesthetics of the site, it still feels a bit cluttered and juxtaposed. But overall, it is still definitely noteworthy.

Best "back to top" link I've seen :)

While I do not care for the overall look "Love/Hate" as it is. I admire the authors style, implementation, and skill. Great work! I can't get my TXP categories to work either =P. You may want to try this plugin called cbs category list.

"Juxtaposed" - I'm not sure I agree with that. Probably because I don't know what it means. "Marmite-y" would be a word I would use to describe the overall response to the site. If, indeed, it was a actually a word.

@Mark: Hmmm ... Cheers mate - I'll look into that.

Kev-
Great site. I love the subtle cleaver illustrations in the posts, and the decor illustrations all around. I do think that the main naviagion could be playful, but it needs to be more readable.

Great site though!

Like the site, espcially the strectching seamlessly part. I love the reward at the bottom of the page. Nice to see someone having fun.

In this world of sterile web style being the acceptable norm, I applaud Kev's attempt at showing his inner-self. The illustrations are very clever and humorous.

Hmmm...I don't like the site at all. It's very messy and what the heck is it at the top?(I have FF) It's kind a 75px transparent strip so I can see the cssbeuty's layout through this "gap"...

GravatarOn July 2, 2006 10:11 AM kevadamson said:

@ Lena : Sorry you don't like the site. Just out of interest, what version of FF are you using, and on what platform? ... Ta

Very nice site. It's personal and playful. I love the illustrations. Have to do some work now, I got inspired! :)

@ Lena : Hmmm ... that's what I use and I get no problems? I even did a 'browsercam' on it with all the versions of FF, and still got no dodgy transparent stuff going on ...

@ Tobias: Cheers. BIG fan of your site btw - is awesome ...

This is the best site I've seen in long time Kev. You have very unique style and I see You know Your way around CSS and some JS too (moo.fx anyone?). Also, I love how You have handled font resizing. Your code is also very clean and readable.

Very few sites which use liquid layout are so rich in graphics. Though I don't have any degree in design, I can recognize an educated designer. Thumbs up Kev!
