I think the main body of the about page would have been in danger of lacking vitality if it weren't for that lovely, well-placed photo. I do particularly like the slide-down effect on the "Category" and search menus of the notebook page, and the contact page is spot on for me.
Overall, an attractive and fresh design – good job.
