Looks highly influenced by SimpleBits. Poor Dan's getting ripped off left and right.

Colin; whatever, this site may be similar in many respects but I think that blatantly calling it a rip off is a tad moronical. There are only so many layouts out there and people do tend to remember and like what they see.

"There are only so many layouts out there." Well, yes, there are only so many layouts out there. But, I'll let you in on a secret... you can create new ones. You don't have to use what's out there.

I don't see any glaring similarities between the two? It's a two column layout with a fairly standard CSS menu. If the fact that they are using the same "two column" layout is the major link in the chain then every two column site is a rip off of the first one.

Yeah, it's the two-column layout. That's it. How about the entire header?

Really, when you think about it, there is no real originality left on the web, everything has been done atleast once before, even if it's not possible for us to remember it. Yes, the SimpleBits and White Image, look a little a like, but in all actuality ANYONES site looks atleast a little like someone elses, be it setup, colors, logo, etc etc Navigation, a similar logo position (it being in the header that is) but how many layouts on the web do you know that uses two columns, with the logo and rollover navigation, and then with the bar under the main content... Even the main page of the CSS Beauty follows most of these things.

Maybe I'm the only one who isn't blind? And to say that there is no real originality left... I hope your boss or clients don't know you feel that way.

Simply, everything has been done before - if you go to the actual definition of originality then yes, there's no REAL - completely uncopied - whatsoever - site out there. Find one and I'll think about it.. but there is no site that you'll find out there that doesn't somewhat look like another one. Won't happen.

Well, there's an ethical line that shouldn't be crossed. There's also a legal one. I just think this site's header is flirting with the former.

I'm gonna go ahead and help you out Colin. White Image has:
1) a navigation with a top bar with multiple pixeled squares. Although this image is not the same size nor pattern as the one used at Simplebits,it's still a pretty close version.
2) the whole header is the same size as Dan's... open both sites side by side and you'll notice that.
3) the navigation is painstakingly similar to Dan's... this wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't because of both arguments 1 and 2.
4) leaving the header section, we find that white image uses a two column layout roughly like Dan's, which is then followed by a three column section with miscellaneous links, roughly (again) like Dan's.
5) to wrap up the site in question also has a footer that roughly resembles Dan's...

You may argue that cssbeauty also uses a misc link 3 column area before a "thick" footer as do thousands of sites out there... and well, you're right. This is not a rip of Dan's work... although the whole site is inspired on Simplebits... This is just a case or poor judgment with a little bit of UNoriginality. Te site does look good thought... props for that.

Rip-off is a complete copy, Colin. Not just influence. If you don't agree, so your logo is another rip-off of any christian cross. Or perhaps it's just influence?

And by the way, this layout has nothing great or new to be featured here.

Nice use of greyscale and simplicity.

I don't really see the resemblance between the two sites myself :\

This is influenced by Simplebits or one of the many sites that are already influenced by Simplebits. But can't you see a site for what it is without comparing it to others?

Thankfully I browsed the site before reading any comments and I can only conclude that this is a superb site and the content is stunning! What an improvement on simplebits!
