    Hello,
I apologize as I am sure this question has been asked many times...

Short of buying a computer for each platform / browser version, how do you successfully test the results of your pages / css for multiple versions of browsers or platforms?

Since it doesnt allow me to install IE 5 or 6 since I am running IE7, I have no way to know how it looks.

Also since I do not have a Apple, I dont know how it looks in that browser environment as well.

I have tried to Google emulators but have no been successful..

A point in the right direction would be most appreciated!

    thanks,
    Brian

For anyone with an Intel Mac, things are a LOT easier these days, as you can either reboot directly into Windows XP/Vista using Bootcamp, or even better, run them directly inside OSX using Parallels (really amazing bit of software - http://www.parallels.com/). We can easily check pretty much any browser from one iMac :)

You should check out the browser archives at http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/standalone for standalone versions of IE5/6 that you can install on your machine. http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE does something similar as well I believe.

You're still left with the problem of checking OSX browsers... you could buy a cheap mac from ebay, or use one of the remote browser snapshots services (the names of which escape me just now, oh, apart from http://www.browsercam.com/ which is a paid-for-service)

    Phew!
