Just wondering if, on the off-chance that anyone remembers this site: 2ddepot?
It had a news/about page that I can't for the life of me find again. It's just that I recently came across another site's design that somehow reminded me of this. I suspected that it was a clone, or just very similar.
I don't think I'd do anything about it, it's just to satisfy my own curiosity and to confirm my hunch.
This is the other site: ModernToilet (Toilet themed restaurants, yeah, I don't get it either)
In specific, these are the elements that make me think of 2dDepot: • General Colour scheme (I suppose that's not much to go on) • The speech bubbles under the "Visit our toilet" title on this page • The "launch site" button and the way that the "Start" has been designed on this page
Incidentally, the "toilet" site is not as nice and polished as I remembered the original being.
I'm sorry if this is not really related to CSS, but I guess it classes as "General Design" and professional ethics. What would you do if you suspected something? Often I come across quite a few sites that look similar and it's due to the fact that they're using templates, which I think is OK, it's being used as the creator intended.
I know we all receive inspiration from other sites and looking around, but how far can you take inspiration and homage before it crosses the line? How would you handle it if a client wanted a new site and just say "I want it like that other one you did with a few changes"?
