Hi everyone,can anyone give me any advice on how get a background to flow through a whole page? i need to know what size and what format i should use (jpeg..etc..) when i create it in photoshop.I only want to create a background with a gradient.

Well... Very basically, assuming you want a background that has a vertical gradient from one colour or shade to another, the image only needs to be the height of the actual gradient and only one pixel wide. You then position it at the top, repeat it horizontally and make the background colour the same as the bottom pixel of the gradient. Not sure if I am making sense here, but that is usually how I would do it.
The same principle applies for a horizontal gradient, except that it would be positioned to the left or right and repeated vertically. -
