All of those sites use Macromedia Flash for the entire site. This is horrible as far as Accessibility is concerned and has nothing to do with CSS. I strongly urge you never to make a site completely using flash.

That being said if you want to learn it you should look for communities for Flash developers.

Use flash sparingly, and always provide an alternative!

I see your predicament. There isn't a tutorial (to my knowledge) that covers the entire style of those simulation enviornments. But some crafty work done in Photoshop does yeld fascinating results as long as you stick with attention to details.

Some useful tutorials on different techniques used around those sites can be found over at http://pixel2life.com under the Photoshop category. There you can look for some subsections that concern your design.

The way Kanazhii's comment wrapped in my broswer read as follows:

"I strongly urge you never to make a site"

Then I continued to read to comment, just thought it was funny...

OK, sorry for wasting everyones time...

I just stumbled upon this nifty little tutorial in Macromedia Fireworks and I remembered you were interested in something similar. Have a look, it might help. http://www.brownbatterystudios.com/sixthings/2006/03/06/rapid-fire-1-photo-realistic/#more-10

you can make full sites in flash by using loadmovie commands and some basic animations and some photoshop works you can make stunning sites. its not a big deal at all. It will load faster also. There is a software called "sothing decompiler where you can make 'fla' files from 'swf'.you will get swf files from your temporary internet files after viewwing the site .Try to download the software from download.com or make a google search and learning and expirimenting.....

That is not necessarily true. I have seen some highly accessible work done in Flash.

Just wanted to echo ljromanoff's comment that just because a site uses Flash does not mean it's an accessibility nightmare. Flash (when done properly) is actually more accessible than AJAX.

I agree with Kanashii, site entirely in Flash is bad for accessibility and moreover for SEO. But if you do make a website entirely in Flash then you should create a full XHTML/CSS version as well.

Now that is said, it is true that you can do accessible website in Flash... but how many extra development hours to do so ?? Where as an accessible XHTML website is quicker to develop.
Two things I dont like in Flash are: back button in browser dont work and the text is not selectable. Now you can say you can implement a back button in your flash application but the user is used to the normal one and will get confused.

i have to disagree with some of the comments made about Flash.

Flash has come a long way and is becoming more accessible with every release. Also why do sites have to be all about accessibility and SEO? And if you were going to build (or could build) and extra site in CSS why bother with Flash in the first place.

I do agree that alternative content should be displayed where deemed needed, but not a whole site.

You can with the help of Javascript implent the browser button, and you can make text selectable, if the developer wants it to be.

Short answer: because that's what most of my clients need.
